Grasshopper Pushups This is a great way to make your pushups harder and get the core and abs working more. Start in a normal pushup position. Take your right leg underneath your body and lower yourself to ground to do your pushup. As you push yourself back to the top, bring your leg back to the starting position. Repeat on the other side, alternating back and forth. (Remember to keep your leg off the ground once you extend it underneath your body... don't let it rest on the ground!)

Sandbags have a very rich history, maybe more so than any other training implement. For hundreds of years (possibly thousands) sandbags has been an integral training tool for athletes, specifically wrestlers. Why? They are an inexpensive tool that is incredibly versatile and can offer the benefits of unstable training with a challenging load. This is a benefit that many of today’s unstable gadgets can not provide. However, the benefits don’t stop there. Greater stabilizer, trunk, and grip strength can be developed with sandbags as well as sport-specific drills, mobility work, and a great conditioning tool.

As is the case with many questions, the problem is within the question itself. Many people equate strength and muscle as the same thing. Although they’re related, they are two very different things. Therefore, we must take each question separately in order to properly address the issue because two different questions have two entirely different answers.

Just like I can’t allow society’s rules to control the way I live, I also can’t let certain so-called rules control the way I train myself or my athletes. At the beginning of my career in this industry, I tried to follow all of the rules. However, I soon realized that, just like in the real world, the rules of the weight room are made to be broken.
